Staff Town Hall Meeting - Shared screen with speaker view
Hello and good to see everyone.
When are you guys hiring classified workers? We are already over worked.
Has a hiring committee been established for this Director position?
I am sure the call center is busy, admissions, etc. and also administrative services since Mayra is retiring.
What was that number of students in need of chromebooks/laptops?
Thank you Lillian
What about higher-end laptops (i.e. not Chromebooks) for the fall semester? Our students in tech-related questions will need those.
second round of stimulus check is coming. this will help a lot of people
the food bank at Hollywood Bowl was not announced to faculty . this kind of thing should pop up on Canvas
Students in digital arts and digital photography need high-end laptops.
Work with mayor to establish free wifi
Homeless students who don’t have cars can’t get to the food banks or grocery stores.
free internet for students for 2 years will save them money if that ever happens
I would like to see us embrace cross-discipline campus life, even in the pandemic
Will you please tell us more about the dual enrollment Trade Tech Latino student who was a victim of police brutality?
they can get the gift card and have the food delivered to them via uber eats or postmates for free
Are those VPN traceable
Are hotspots or internet accesses continuing to be available to students
Spectrum’s “free” internet was not free. It was for only a short period of time, and then it started charging students.
Delivery would be better for homeless students with no cars. Being in public transportation will not help them. They cannot make it to the college without exposure to lots of folks who are not wearing masks
Supplying homeless students with hand sanitizer
Jeremy and I will be sending info (and a link) on low cost internet options, based on household income. We’re working with California Emerging Technology Fund.
Students who are struggling with using Canvas are welcome to join a free training section through the Noncredit Adult Education program this summer
I'm just wondering if I am able to invite my students to go for a hike with me as a completely optional activity so we can meet each other? We can wear masks and distance.
A support group among students
Christine, just make sure they sign a waiver
Can free masks be distributed to students who need them?
I will coordinate with Dean. Put all in writing that it is optional. WE need to build community.
virtual party with students and if they have any talents they can show it off
I have started a your voice matters student support group
How about a virtual dance party?
Please share with your students the virtual library workshops now on canvas
Please be sure to have hand sanitizer for our homeless students, not just food. Also some have no access to water.
Talk to me if you want to switch from your traditional textbook and explore other resource options for your class
We had a Bingo evening with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce…surprisingly super fun
You can also have each one play the person's own music
if any students or staff have certain tips and tricks, they can share it
I won two pieces
Upvote Katie Hamilton's suggestion
The office of student life has been hosting virtual activities throughout the semester for the students like talent shows, and singing competitions and bingo. We will be starting virtual activities again after July 1st.
Water is easy to get if you have a car. I had a homeless student who was squatting in an abandoned house, near 80th and Gage, and no car. No water, no hand sanitizer. No access to real food, only a 7-11 walking distance.
if anyone knows how to open up their first credit card for students to guide them and give them a head start since people need credit to buy car, house and etc. just a suggestion
Yes, and students need credit card in order to use Postmates.
This is instructional related: I think our students would greatly benefit from programs that would increase completion and transfer rates like Learning Communities or Communities of Learning,or successful programs like Puente Project. Is there a possibility of implementing anything like that?
Shac created an interactive map of resources around LACC http://www.shac.space/

Yay Bingo! I wanna play Armineh :)
Do you have Scrabble, Armineh?
In terms of creating a learning community, our honors program, the Ralph Bunche Scholars program is poised to do just that. During “normal times,” we have a classroom, an honors student lounge.
Students still need child care for when school starts, tutoring and hw help for their older kids while parents take afternoon, evening online classes
All students interested in transfer should consider joining the Ralph Bunche Scholars program.
That will only work with effective management
i have an idea. have students follow lacc facebook, intagram and tag people and those people. win giveaway for a gift card
